La montée de l'intégrisme religieux se généralise. L'appui fédéral aux "faith based initiatives" du président Bush a établi le principe de la discrimination religieuse aux États Unis. L'Alberta maintien la discrimination envers les gays et l'Ontario reconnaît les tribunaux islamiques.
